I hope this post finds you well and I hope that your year is off to a great start! I've been back at work for a couple of weeks now. So far so good! I am so excited to share with you what we did this week! FYI I am itinerant so my plans cover a 1 hour block. Another FYI; this post contains affiliate links. So here goes!
First let me talk about my schedule. I have 1 hour with each kid so I need to really make it count! I like to call it my "Hour of Power!" I try to squeeze as much as I can into this 1 hour while keeping it developmentally appropriate for my 3-5 year old students. Here is the picture schedule that I use to guide my hour. I've included it in the FREE Lesson Plan Download!

This week we read Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin. I thought this story would be perfect for my new students in the community because it talks about having a positive attitude in a fun way!
Here are some of my name activities. I plan to use these as a part of my weekly routine.
I followed up the story with a color matching activity which was a file folder game. It's nice and easy for my younger students who have not had any experience with school or for just tending to a task for any amount of time. It also serves as somewhat of an ice breaker to prepare the student for work.
We do a little craft before we dig in to the big stuff! I have to alternate fun with work to keep my little ones interested. I keep it simple because I only have an hour so here is what we did:
For the ABC/Words portion of my schedule; we matched UPPERCASE to lowercase letters and letters to initial sounds pictures:
I keep the activities moving quickly to keep the kids engaged but also to fit it all in! ;0D So as soon as the student is done with the ELA portion we go straight into math.
I found these SUPER CUTE shoe erasers to go with some 10 frames that I made. I've included the link to the erasers in case you're interested.

For the FREE CHOICE portion of my schedule I bring toys for my students to choose from. I let them play for a bit while I finish up any anecdotal notes or consult with parents. To close we do Conscious Discipline's Baby Doll Circle Time and then a Good-bye song. I also carry treats in my bag to give to my students as I am walking out the door!
That's it! I've walked you through my entire "Hour of Power!" I hope you enjoyed it! This is my school day; just wash, rinse and repeat! 4 stops per day 18 kids! There's never a dull moment! =0p
Below you can download the FREE LESSON PLAN, picture schedule, and coloring page! Thanks for taking the time to read my post and thanks for stopping by!
The shoe erasers are no longer available but I found these super cute mini shoes that would make great counters! Here's the link:
